Samaná looks nothing like Punta Cana. It is a green, mountainous peninsula with small beaches set between cliffs, and between January and March it is one of the best places in the Caribbean to see humpback whales. It is also far: this is the longest transfer we run.
How long it really takes
Four to five hours, depending on where on the peninsula you are headed. The run is not uniform: the first part is ordinary road, then there is a long stretch of well-kept toll motorway, and the end returns to slower mountain road. Any estimate promising three hours is measuring in a straight line, not on tarmac.

Planning the day
